The City of Cockburn operates 3 different types of Child Care Services - Family Day Care, Outside School Hours Care including Vacation Care and In Home Child Care.
The City of Cockburn Family Day Care Scheme is a Nationally Accredited Scheme providing quality home based childcare in the homes of carefully selected Family Day Care Providers who are licensed in compliance with the State Child Care Regulations;
The Scheme is well established, operating for 30 years within the southern areas of Perth metropolitan area, including the Cities of Cockburn, Melville, Fremantle and the Town of East Fremantle;
In October 2007, following the removal of the Commonwealth imposed Scheme boundaries, Cockburn Scheme has accepted applications from Family Day Care Providers operating in the northern suburbs of Perth including Madeley, Darch, Landsdale, Ballaujura, Noranda, Morley, Bayswater and Bedford.
In Home Child Care
The City of Cockburn In Home Child Care program is a home based child care service operating in the homes of the families receiving care. This is a Commonwealth supported program in which families must meet the Commonwealth's criteria for access.The criteria includes:-
Families with more than 2 children under preschool age;
Parents who work shift work or non-standard hours;
Families who have a parent or a child with a disability;
Families who have a parent or a child who is ill;
Families who have no access to exisiting child care services.

Under the Child Care Benefit Scheme, more families using approved or registered childcare will be eligible for assistance with their childcare fees. Eligibility for reduced fees is determined by Centrelink (Family Assistance Office), call 13 61 50.
Before & After School Care
Before and After School Care Services provide care for full time pre-primary and primary aged children between the hours of 6.45 and 9.00am and 3.00 and 6.00pm on weekdays.
The children are provided with a nutritional snack, and are able to partake in a variety of activities such as cooking, woodwork, arts and crafts, and formal and informal play.

Atwell Primary School children are escorted by playleaders across the road to the Community Centre.
SOUTH LAKE BEFORE/AFTER & VACATION SCHOOL CARE *NB South Lake Activity Centre, Cnr Mason Court and Elderberry Drive, South Lake Ph: 9417 7771
NB: Please note different Bus pickups for South Lake South Lake Before:This service also provides a bus drop off to Yangebup, Mater Christi, Catholic and Jandakot, Beelair, Divine Mercy and Atwell Primary Schools. South Lake After: Transport is provided to Jandakot, Mater Christi, Beeliar and schools. South Lake Vacation: This service also provides a bus pick-up from Jandakot Primary and Mater Christi Catholic Primary School.
YANGEBUP AFTER SCHOOL CARE Yangebup Community Hall, Swallow Drive, Yangebup. Ph: 9417 5353. A bus operates from South Coogee School and drops children at this centre. Transport is provided from Beeliar primary school to this centre.
Vacation Care provides full-time pre-primary and primary aged children with a safe and exciting environment in which to spend their holidays.
Centres are open between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. A variety of activities are offered such as art and craft, swimming, sport clinics, rollerskating and regular excursions.
